Watch Us On Your Television and Other Devices
Did you know you can watch us on your TV? It's not the simplest process just yet, but we are very confident that televisions will be where most people watch LocalOnlineNews.TV and most web video content in the very near future. After all, wouldn't you rather watch us from the comfort of your sofa than sitting at your desk?
Here is what we're doing to get into your living room:
Televisions
If you are one of the few that own the very under appreciated AppleTV, the process couldn't be easier. Just go to the podcast section and search for LocalOnlineNews.TV (or just type in "West Hartford"). We should just pop right up. Select the story you want to watch and within seconds it'll be on your screen in high definition!
Tivo Series 3 owners should also be able to find us on their devices. While we submitted our feed to Tivo awhile back, we don't own a unit ourselves so we're unable to test. If we don't appear in their directory, adding our feed is very easy. We found a website that has some great instructions to help get you started. Our West Hartford video feed is http://localonlinenews.tv/wh.xml
We are working with Blip.TV to hopefully get us streaming to the Roku box once they activate their most recent firmware. We love Roku because it's dirt cheap (only $99 at Amazon) and very easy to connect to your television and home network. As a bonus it also streams content from Netflix, Amazon, and Major League Baseball. We're not sure how we'll work with Roku just yet, but once things get activated we'll be sure to let you know.
iPods / iPhones & iTunes
If you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone the process of watching us there couldn't be easier. Just go to our website like you normally would, select the story you want to watch, and click the play button. Your selected story will start playing in full screen almost immediately depending on the speed of your connection. Right now this works for most of our new content and we're in the process of converting some of our older videos as well. Navigating to LocalOnlineNews.TV through the iPod/iPhone iTunes music store will also let you download stories for offline viewing. Note that the music store videos will only play on the iPhone 3GS.
Other Devices
There are a bunch of other devices out there that we haven't tried, but the above video feed address should work with most of them. Be sure to comment below and let us know what works (and what doesn't).
Exciting Times
It is such an exciting time to be in this business. Content providers, hardware manufacturers, and end-users are all trying to figure out this new media revolution.
