An exciting new partnership in Chester, Deep River, and Essex

Screen_shot_2010-08-29_at_7

When the Hartford Courant dropped daily coverage of the Chester, Deep River, and Essex region last year, we felt it was important to fill the gap. We were fortunate when we launched to have former Hartford Courant reporter Charlie Stannard resume his old beat in the three towns.

As old media gives way to new, partnerships and collaborations will be critical to building a sustainable hyperlocal news infrastructure. To that end, we’re excited to announce the launch of ValleyNewsNow.com, brought to you by Olwen Logan and the people behind LymeLine.com and OldSaybrookNow.com. ValleyNewsNow.com will now be the new home of Chester, Deep River, and Essex coverage. Charlie Stannard will continue his reporting there.

You’ll get to know some new faces who will bring news and information on local entertainment and the arts. We will also benefit from the expanded regional coverage that this partnership will provide. LocalOnlineNews.TV is not going away. Our core business, hyperlocal video, is growing rapidly in other parts of the state and we need to focus our resources on continued video growth.

You’ll be seeing some of our video journalists reporting for the new entity soon. We thank you for your support and interest.

Be sure to set your bookmarks to ValleyNewsNow.com!

Next Live Event: GOP Debate in Enfield

A few months ago we embarked on our first live broadcast experiment featuring a debate with the Democratic gubernatorial candidates in New Haven.  The broadcast was shared across a number of independent media sites, including the New Haven Independent, the Valley Independent Sentinel, and CTNewsJunkie.com.

This Thursday it's the GOP's turn at Asnuntuck College in Enfield.  Along with CTNewsJunkie.com we'll be broadcasting a debate double header featuring Senate candidates Peter Shiff and Rob Simmons as well as Gubernatorial candidates Mike Fedele and Oz Griebel.  LocalOnlineNews.TV alum George Colli will moderate along with a panel of journalists asking questions.

We'll be using some new technology that will allow for multiple camera angles and a more professional looking presentation. Visit http://www.localonlinenews.tv/live/ starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29th!

A LocalOnlineNews.TV Alum Hits the Airwaves

One of the most satisfying things we do at LocalOnlineNews.TV is work with very talented reporters at the very start of their careers. George Colli, who covered the Republican Convention for us and CTNewsJunkie.com, was picked up by Hartford's Fox61 just a few days after his stories went live on our sites. Here's a story he filed last night with Fox, helping victims of the recent Tornado in Bridgeport:

We're always searching for new talent. If you're looking to improve your craft while reporting real hyperlocal news, please contact us at info@localonlinenews.tv.
